Best Gifts To Give Your Mother This Mother’s Day

Our mothers are our backbones. They are our go-to people. They dedicate our lives for us, so much so that their worlds revolve around us. Day and night they do things for us that are great and expect almost nothing in return. While there’s almost nothing that you give your mothers which can be equivalent to their unconditional love, but one can certainly try. And what’s better an occasion than mother’s day. But fret not, we’ve compiled a list of gifts that you can gift your mother to express how thankful you are to have her in your life and make her happy.

A spa session

Our moms are always on their toes. They are multi-taskers taking care of work and family together. This mother’s day encourages her to take a break and spend some time to rewind at a spa. Book her a full body massage that will rejuvenate her senses and take away her tiredness. A trip to the spa will awaken her senses and she’ll get back to her normal life with full energy.

Movie date

No gift is actually better than giving your mother some time. A movie date followed by a nice dinner is a perfect Sunday afternoon you can spend with her. Choose a movie that she’d like to watch and take her to her favourite restaurant in Delhi. Order her favourite food and see her happy and proud when her child pays the bill.

Make-up

One thing that you can’t go wrong while buying things for women is make-up. Ask the make-up artist at the store at places to shop in Delhi to guide you with the right kind of make-up to buy for your mother. Make sure that whatever you buy whether it’s a lipstick or foundation, it’s what suits your mother skin tone.

Things You Should Buy From The Mall Before Going For Your Beach Vacation

We all love vacations. We wait for them to happen eagerly and spend a lot of time planning them. There’s no denying in how much fun they are but vacations are also a lot of work. This is especially true when the place you are considering is a beach destination. Beach destinations sound like a no-prep holiday but think again. You’ll need more stuff than you think. But you don’t have to fret. We’ve prepared a list of essentials you should buy on your next visit to the mall before you leave for your vacation.  These are

Sunscreen

A sunscreen is going to be your best friend on the beach. While sunbathing by the beach is great, the after effects are really troublesome. What’s worse than having sunburn on a vacation? Oh! the tan. Save yourself from any such troubles and buy a good sunscreen with SPF 50. While you are at the store also ask the help to find you a protective lip balm too. The best part about shopping in Delhi or any other big city is that you can find everything under one roof.

Comfy clothes

The last thing you want on the beach is your clothes sticking to your body. Make sure you choose light fabrics such as cotton and linen to take along with you. Also, you should buy cool coloured clothes like aqua, lemon, light pinks, turquoise, tangerine etc. Additionally, try buying these colours with floral prints. They look great when on the beach. What also looks great is wavy hair. When you are shopping you should also getting a haircut at a Salon in Delhi.

Casual shoes

Half of your comfort is determined by the shoes that you wear. Make sure they are light and of the right fit. Ideally, flip-flops are your best companions on the beach. Not only are they comfortable, they can be easily rinsed off too.

Camera and phone accessories

Beaches provide you with the most excellent photographs. Make sure you carry extra batteries and memory cards and zip locks to prevent water getting into them.

5 Shopping Tips to Save Money

Shopping is deeper than most people make it out to be. It is not a frivolous activity which men and women undertake out of boredom and lack of anything better to do. In fact, it is an art and not everyone’s cup of tea. Shopping can get taxing and monotonous for those not skilled in this specific art and that is why one must know the simple tricks of shopping wisely. If one knows these basic tricks, it will help them to spend less money and buy more.

Hence when shopping in Delhi and other metropolitan cities in big malls the likes of SelectCityWalk, there are somethings everyone must keep in mind. We have brought together a list of life-saving hacks you must keep in mind when out for shopping:

1. Things you really need

A winter meeting is coming up and you need formals. But the problem is that you procrastinate till you absolutely need it the next day. The trick is to start shopping for the things you know you need from a month before. Browse through sale sections fro the very start of the season so that by the time the occasion comes, you have what you need and you don’t need to buy it at a double rate when you could have easily bought it for half that price.

2. Cosmetics

It is advisable to skip the salons in Delhi and other cities, and move straight to the cosmetic shops for your new lipstick or eyeliner. Buying online is also a good idea. There is a good possibility that salons sell the same products for a higher price when you can get the same thing at a lower price in online sales and retail outlets.

3. Checkout

It is essential to pay close attention during checkout as even computers can make mistakes. Items can be marked incorrectly or the sale price can sometimes not ring up. Keeping a close eye can mean saving a lot of money.

4. Always try on clothes

We all know this basic rule but many a times we don’t do so out of laziness. You must always try out clothes before you buy it. There are many times when a dress looks great on a mannequin but does not end up looking the same on you. Hence, it is essential that you see that the outfit fits you well before you actually purchase it.

5. Shopping bag

Here is an astonishing fact. The presence of a shopping bag is not just annoying, it makes you shop more. To avoid impulse purchases and useless shopping, skip the shopping bags and look for the things you actually require.

Visit the unvisited this winter

The best part of the year is here, and it is here with all its splendour. For our own sake, we must ignore the reference of the thick smog outside our windows for the moment. Winters are not just beautiful, they're also a great time to organize all the day trips you have been wanting to go on since the year began. With the end of this year, it is time to check out all those places you had vowed to visit when the year had started. That isolated cafe, that underrated brunch place, and that hidden library - they all need your attention.
But despite the fact that we promised to forget the smog so as to not ruin our winter bliss, we must take corrective measures to protect ourselves from this monstrosity that befalls us every single winter. For the next ten days, it is best we choose places that are indoors and are completely covered from all sides. I know that's not our ideal scenario, but our health comes first. And come on, we will not leave you hanging!

We have brought together some of the best places one can visit which are not only covered but are also mysterious and equally fun.

1. British council library

When we talk about places to visit, one very charming place comes to mind. The British council library, situated in the centre of Delhi, very close to Connaught Place, is absolutely delightful. With an artsy arrangement of paintings and murals, they also have one of the most fabulous collections of British authors I have ever come across. Along with books, they lend DVDs and even conduct workshops for spoken English and personality development. A membership for the library is inexpensive and very useful and one can spend hours here, tucked away in its comfort and many gifts.

2. SelectCityWalk

The reason why this mall found a way into this list while others did not is simply because of its uniqueness and convenience. It has literally everything under one roof - whether we talk about the best salons in Delhi or fun playhouses for kids. From swanky showrooms to other entertaining elements, this mall has it all. It even has a flea market they organize every week or fortnightly!

3. Cafes

Not every cafe is closed and equally amazing, but many cafes in Delhi are. Whether we talk about cafes in Khan market the likes of Perch or the newly opened The Civil House, or we select separate cafes like the Rose cafe is Saket, they all have one thing in common - an extraordinary ambience. Combined with vintage and chic elements, they provide all kinds of wonderful experiences.

4. Indian Habitat Centre

One of my favourite places in Delhi till date is the Indian Habitat Centre. I have never seen a place which can serve the interests of such a diverse group before. Whether you are a theatre enthusiast, a budding writer, or an artist trying out new things- you can find some or the other event of your liking here. From plays to photography, from galleries to theatres, from dance performances to book launches, IHC is a hub of all cultures and preferences.

This winter, escape the smog and imbibe the culture of your dear city. It has a lot more to offer.
